If you have never been to British Columbia, I recommend you make plans to see this beautiful city on the water.
Victoria, which is the capital of the province of British Columbia is a beautiful city sitting sits on the rocky southern end of Vancouver Island.
I have visited the city a couple times, and absolutely love it.
Walking down the streets with flowers in full bloom in hanging baskets, to walking the main street with all their adorable shops, it is just a wonderful way to spend the day, or a week as there is so much to do.
Some of the fun things to do in Victoria include:
- High Tea at the Fairmont Empress. The hotel, called Canada’s Castle on the Coast is a mix of old and new, and was completely remodeled as of 2017. There are 464 guest rooms, a spa, and restaurants featuring Northwest Cuisine. A long standing tradition for over 100 years at the Empress is serving High Tea in the Lobby Lounge Tea has been served to royalty, dignitaries and celebrities alike.
- Whale Watching. A boat ride to do some whale watching is always an adventure and tours are available year round
- Shopping. Victoria offers shopping from quaint stores, to well named brands, as well as local food markets, as there are around 950 farms in the Victoria area.
- Tour Butchart Gardens. Wander through 55 acres of beautiful gardens that have been blooming for over 100 years.
- Wander Bastion Square is the perfect place to visit in the summer as it is filled with artisan markets and outdoor seating at some of it’s restaurants, pubs, and cafes.
- Enjoy Victorian Harbor. Which also includes Inner Harbor is one of the most picturesque harbors in the world.
- Tour the Parliament Buildings. Take a tour of the buildings that are still in use today to pass laws to govern the province.
This is only a partial list of what you can see and do in Victoria. It is a beautiful city that is worth spending time in to experience all it has to offer.
