A Guide To Jackson Hole & The Grand Tetons

There is nothing more beautiful than The Grand Tetons.

You will access the Grand Tetons, by driving through the town of Jackson Hole. It is an adorable town, with everything you can imagine, even a Target, and a whole lot of traffic as well. Being that I was visiting in September, I can only imagine how busy it is in the summer months.

Once you are done in Jackson Hole, head north to get to the Entrance to the Grand Tetons.

The beauty of the Tetons is unmatched, and there are a lot of hiking trailheads, and sightseeing pullouts to take explore.

On your way through the park, take Antelope Flats Road, which will take you to Mormon Row. The two barns built by settlers John and Thomas Alma Moulton. These are the iconic barns shown on postcards of the area, with the Teton range in the background. Mormon Row was a homestead community, which consisted of a church, school and swimming hole.

Plan on spending a day at Jenny Lake. The Visitor Center opens at 9am and the shuttle boats start running at 10am. The fee was $20 for a roundtrip ticket, and $12 for a one way. You can also take the 2 mile hike around the lake to start the hike up to Inspiration Point. Once you reach to dock, you will start the hike up to inspiration point. The hike is a little over a mile, and mostly uphill. You can also take the path to Cascade Canyon. The hike is pretty pretty difficult, but the views are so worth it. I saw a Moose on my hike, and that made it all worthwhile. The last shuttle boat leaves at 4pm, so make sure you are at the dock before then, or you will be walking the 2+ miles around the lake to get back to your car.

I camped at the Colter Bay Campground, and it was excellent. There was a grocery store, a gift store, showers and a laundromat. There are also cabins for those that prefer not to camp. I attended a ranger talk and it was very informative. The Ranger gave a history of how the Tetons was cleared to become a National Park all because of the beavers.

The Tetons is an amazing place to spend a few days, or even a week if you are an avid hiker, as there are plenty of trails to explore in this beautiful valley. Be on the lookout for wildlife, as they are all over the park.
