White Water Rafting for Beginners

I am betting that White Water Rafting on the Colorado River is on almost everyone’s bucket list. It has been on mine for years, especially once I moved to Arizona in 2005.

Today, I crossed that item off my very long list, with the perfect trip for a rafting beginner.

I booked my trip with a locally owned company called Paddle Moab. Our guide for the day was a young man named Josh, and he was exceptional. Along with pointing out scenic markers, and landscape highlights, we also learned about him and got some funny jokes thrown in for good measure.

It was a small group which made it so much better. We got to enjoy the quiet, and peace of the river, and really just absorb the views of the cliffs from the ground floor.

It really is inspiring when you look above you, and see the miles and miles of majestic cliffs, that have been evolving for millions of years, and then you realize that all that majesty is all located on Planet Earth. The sphere that is spinning on its axis at an equatorial speed of 1,040 miles per hour, as well as speeding through space at an average velocity of 67,108 miles per hour, which to make it really real is 87 times faster than the speed of sound, and has been doing that every day for eons.

Yes, the entire world is one huge, gigantic, extraordinary miracle.

Sometimes we need to be reminded of that, as I believe we take it for granted that the earth will keep rotating, the sun will come up in the morning, and the moon will show itself at night.

Today, I was reminded again that I am a part of that miracle, and in a time where the world is full of chaos, there is still a God that is working everything out for our good.

We serve a God who is so big that our minds can’t fathom exactly what he is and what he is capable of.

Today was my reminder… that I am nothing without him.
