When traveling, it isn’t a matter of IF it rains, but WHEN.
I love rainy days, as I live in the state of Arizona, so we have learned to really appreciate free water from the heavens.
However when traveling, it can definitely put a damper on your day.
Here are 5 ideas for those rainy days.
- Take a nap. During my month long adventure in the fall of 2022, there were quite a few rainy days. I spent a couple afternoons, in my 4Runner with the seat back, napping away with the sound of raindrops on my roof. It was the perfect way to recharge and just find joy in the day.
- Don your rain gear and continue on with your day. If you have rain pants, a good jacket with a hood and waterproof shoes, rain won’t slow you down, and I bet it will be a lot quieter and a lot less people sharing your day outside.
- Take a long scenic drive while it is raining. Take some pictures of the sites, as I bet you will get quite a few good ones.
- Use a rainy day to do some errands like laundry, catch up on phone calls, or blog posts, and just enjoy the day of downtime.
Rain truly is a wonderful thing, so enjoy the gift and make the most of it.
Remember you are on an adventure, so just enjoy the day!
A word of warning…if there is lightning in the are, you should find shelter immediately. The last place you want to be is out in the rain in a full blown lightning storm.
